Hello, and welcome to Catholic Inklings! My goal? To introduce you to some Catholic writers and their work. Some of what you find here will be easy reading, some will be more challenging. All, I hope, will help you grow closer to God.
I am an ordinary sort of a reader, I think. I never attended Catholic college or anything like that. I was homeschooled first grade through high school, but never really focused too much on the "serious" books. I just love to read. Many of the books I introduce, I admit, I am reading for the first time. Many of the authors I have only known by name. But I know that there is so much out there that I don't know, and so many others are as unfamiliar as I am. And it can be very hard to introduce yourself.
I am what would probably be considered a "Traditional" Catholic, in that I usually attend the Extraordinary Form of the Mass, and I wear a chapel veil, and I like old Catholic things much better than I like new Catholic things. The Mass I attend is a diocesan Latin Mass. While I sympathize with groups like the SSPX, I cannot in good conscience support them. I tell you these things because I know that it will influence what I read and what I write, and as a reader you may want to know.
Finally, a note on Aquinas and More Catholic Goods. I found this company while looking for a Catholic bookstore with an affiliate program. I chose them not because of their excellent affiliate rates for bloggers, although that is very nice, but because of their overall integrity and wonderful selection of books. I like knowing that they have a commitment to true Catholicism. I love being able to browse their book selection and see at a glance which books have an imprimatur. And I think the fact that they do not sell anything made in China is awesome. In addition to a lovely selection of books, they also sell many gift items and church goods. While I do recommend patronizing your local Catholic bookstore first, if you are looking for an online option, be sure to check them out!
God Bless!
